Dr. Mandy Goldstein

Mandy sees clients across the age range. She is currently unable to take on new clients.

Mandy offers compassionate support alongside evidence-based treatment for individuals and families struggling with eating disorders, body image concerns, disordered eating, as well as trauma, and related concerns. Whether seeking recovery, personal growth and understanding, improved quality of life or support through life’s challenges, she brings experience and warmth to helping clients and their supports reach their treatment goals. Mandy has been in private practice since 2008, initially at Mandy Goldstein Psychology and working alongside this at The Redleaf Practice for a decade. She offers treatment across the age range for those experiencing eating disorders, and to adults experiencing attachment/relational difficulties, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and complex trauma. She provides after-hours appointments, longer-term care as needed, and Medicare rebates for eligible clients. She is also a board-approved supervisor and offers individual and group supervision to trainee and experienced psychologists.
Training and Experience
Mandy has nearly 2 decades of clinical experience. Prior to and while working as a private practitioner, she worked and trained in both public and private specialist eating disorder treatment settings including the Adolescent Service at Prince of Wales Hospital (and affiliated eating disorders unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital), and the Peter Beumont Centre for Eating Disorders at both Wesley Private and The Hills Private Hospitals. She has been involved in inpatient, outpatient and day program treatment settings for patients with eating disorders, treating patients in both group and individual settings, and received 12 months of training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Family-based Treatment (Maudsley FBT) for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa. Throughout her doctoral training, she facilitated group treatment, supporting children who have suffered bullying, Vietnam Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as adults and adolescents with eating disorders.
Qualifications and Memberships

Mandy completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, and an Honours Degree at the University of Wollongong in Australia. She completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University, where her research and training were focused on improving outcomes in the treatment of eating disorders. She has undertaken research on both adolescent delinquency and eating disorders, and continues to undertake research within the eating disorder field. Mandy is proudly a founding member of the TrEAT research registry, collecting practice-based information on those seeking treatment for eating disorders. Her research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals and at national conferences. She continues to train in the fields of eating disorders and trauma, and is proficient in the use of a wide range of currently recommended evidence-based treatment approaches for both eating disorders and trauma, tailored to induvial care. She offers workshops on eating disorder core principles, with her recent workshops on trauma informed care, and the co-occurrence of eating disorders and trauma, highly sought after.  

All psychologists are legally required to be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. This is to ensure that they meet and continue to maintain specified standards of competence and ethical practice, developed to ensure the welfare of their clients through continued professional development. Mandy is endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist and has been eligible to provide supervision to trainee and more experienced psychologists since 2012.  She is an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC), a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS); a member of the NEDC Training Providers Reference Group; and currently holds the role of President-Elect of the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
